Beauty on a Budget

For the last few months I have really been into trying some budget friendly products. Through Instagram I have seen a lot of bloggers talking about products from Trader Joe’s that are extremely budget friendly, but also amazing. Basically I’m looking for the most bang for my buck.

I will start by talking about the Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Hair Mask. I heard about this product through Stylin by Aylin. She is always raving about this product so I had to try it. I will say I am not someone to go on and on about a product unless I really like it, but this product I haven’t stopped talking about. The smell alone makes it worth buying. Imagine the most amazing coconut tanning oil scent… that’s what it smells like. The first time I used it I was blown away. I have pretty wavy hair that gets very big and dried out looking when I blow-dry it. The first time I used this hair mask I was in shock. My hair was softer and the texture was different than it normally is. After I blow-dried it, it was much straighter than usual. It was a very pleasant surprise.

Now I use it a couple times a week. I especially like using it after I have a day at the beach.

Next up is the Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Hair Serum. After I had bought the Hair Mask, I had come across the serum on another trip to Trader Joe’s. I thought, hmm this is worth a try, even if it’s just for the smell.

I really like this product. My hair frizzes very easily when it’s humid. Recently, I was in the Keys with my family and the nights were humid. After showering and getting ready to go out to dinner, the last thing I want is for my hair to poof up. This was the first time I had tried this product and I was very happy with the results. It’s a lightweight product so my hair didn’t feel greasy or heavy. It just smelt great and frizz was not a problem. Also, it does add a very nice shine.

The next product worth mentioning is the Moisturizing Face Lotion with SPF 15. Normally I buy the Neutrogena Face Lotion with SPF 15, but the price point was so good, I figured it was definitely worth a try.

There isn’t much of a difference between the two brands in my opinion. The Trader Joe’s brand is slightly thicker, but it is not heavy at all. I like that it has an SPF and my skin has been feeling extra soft since using it. In fact, I have both brands and I have been consistently using the Trader Joe’s brand.

Ok, so this product I came across randomly during a Google search for something unrelated. I came across an article that says its basically a dupe of La Mer. Being skin-obsessed, I recognized the brand La Mer right away. I have read about it in articles and how celebrities such as Beyonce, Blake Lively, Kim Kardashian, and Chrissy Teigen are said to be obsessed with it. So of course when I saw this I was immediately intrigued that I could possibly have a similar product for a fraction of the cost.

Long story short, I really like this product. I have never used La Mer, so I have nothing to actually compare it to, but the consistency is different from anything I have ever used, so I liked that. Also, it is very moisturizing. I put it all over my face and neck before I go to bed and sometimes I mix it into my moisturizer during the day.

My husband likes it because it is not greasy feeling and absorbs quickly. He likes it over face oils.

I have been happy with the way my skin looks when I wake up since I have been using it. It looks brighter and healthier than I remember.

All of these products are worth trying, and for the price, you don’t have to feel guilty about buying them.
